Mika Reyes, Erika Santos headline PVL’s new era of champions

Two powerful stories defined the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour Finale at the Mall of Asia Arena: one of redemption and another of breakthrough.

For Mika Reyes, it was the culmination of years of perseverance.

The PLDT middle blocker rose to the occasion in the championship match, dropping a career-best 20 points off 13 attacks and seven monster blocks to lead the High Speed Hitters to a historic five-set win over Chery Tiggo. The performance earned her the Finals Most Valuable Player award, her first individual accolade of such magnitude in the PVL.

Her commanding presence at the net anchored PLDT’s maiden crown, giving the franchise its first-ever PVL championship and proving why she remains one of the league’s most dependable veterans.

On the other side of the spotlight stood Erika Santos, whose star exploded in full bloom with Cignal.

Once a promising young hitter at PLDT, Santos made her mark in her first season with the HD Spikers, capturing the PVL On Tour Most Valuable Player award.

The 25-year-old opposite spiker not only powered Cignal with consistent scoring but also lit up the tour with a 30-point explosion against Zus Coffee—her career highlight to date. Santos finished the preliminaries tied as top scorer with 87 points and led all spikers with a 37.50-percent success rate.

Together, Reyes and Santos embodied the theme of the 2025 PVL on Tour: a blend of experience and rising stardom. Reyes’ resilience delivered PLDT’s long-awaited breakthrough, while Santos’ emergence signaled the arrival of a new generation of volleyball superstars.

As the dust settles on the preseason tournament, one thing is certain—Mika Reyes and Erika Santos have become the faces of a league that continues to evolve, carrying with them the stories of triumph, growth, and a future brighter than ever.
